About The Design
I was originally inspired by the flowers that grow in the cracks of the sidewalk, but I wanted something a bit more graphic. I chose to use a skull and have the flowers come out of the eye sockets because even at our worst we can still grow.
Illustration Process
I first started with a rough sketch done in pencil before taking that sketch into Illustrator. Once in Illustrator I used the pen tool to create the skull, and the flowers were created with the shape builder. For the color pallet I wanted to use bold colors for the flowers and then chose to use shades of the orange on the skull.
