About The Design
I do a ton of designs and illustrations with birds, both realistic and stylized. For the Choose Chaos bird I basically imagined a blackbird mixed with a robin. From there I just kind of thought what would be funny to have the bird carry. I've seen so many of the "become ungovernable" memes and thought it would be fun to give this cute bird a lit match and add the type Choose Chaos to really make it pop.
Illustration Process
I first sketched the bird and came up with one similar to the final image. I took that into illustrator and traced it with the pen tool and then created the match stick and flame as well in illustrator. I then found a typeface that I felt matched the feel of chaos. For the color pallet I knew I wanted the bird to be black and white so I chose to use the yellow of the beak and legs the same and go with a variety of orange shades in the flame.
